What is Gastric Balloon: All You Need to Know about Gastric Balloon

If you’re battling obesity, the path to significant weight loss is now easier with tools such as the Orbera and Obalon gastric balloons. Both are non-surgical, temporary, and designed to assist you in your weight loss journey, acting as space-fillers in your stomach to foster portion control. Studies have demonstrated a tremendous success rate for these gastric balloons. For instance, Orbera patients have recorded three times more weight loss in six months compared to those who solely rely on diet and exercise. At Davtyan Medical Weight Loss and Wellness, we combine these innovative balloons with exhaustive support to help patients adopt sustainable lifestyle changes for long-term success.

The Orbera Gastric Balloon, a soft, silicone balloon, assists adults with obesity to lose and sustain their weight. It is a suitable option for individuals with a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 30 and 40 who haven’t recorded significant weight loss through conservative methods. The balloon resides in your stomach for six months, promoting portion control and reducing hunger. Alongside the balloon placement, patients participate in a new diet and exercise program designed to optimize weight loss. Although the balloon is removed after six months, our committed team continues offering guidance on diet and exercise routines, ensuring sustainable, healthy habits, and long-term weight loss success. With Orbera, obesity doesn’t have to be a lifelong battle; experience the powerful transformation today.

Another balloon you may read about is the Obalon Balloon System, which is no longer sold in the United States. This innovative method involves a swallowable capsule that contains the balloon, removing the necessity for anesthesia or sedation. Once the balloon reaches the stomach, it is inflated with gas and forms a light, buoyant balloon. The Obalon system involves placing three balloons gradually over three months to both maximize patient comfort and facilitate progressive weight loss. Six months after the first balloon is placed, all of them are removed through a short outpatient endoscopic procedure. The Obalon Balloon System provides a non-invasive, reversible path to weight loss for individuals who prefer not to undergo traditional surgery.
