I’m passionate about food—I live for food. I don’t eat to live; I live to eat. This mindset is true for me. I am not thinking, “Oh, I shouldn’t eat that,” or “Oh, I can’t have that.” You know, it gives you control, knowing that your body can only eat so much. I believe stapling is major surgery; once you have it done, there’s no going back, no reversing it. If you start gaining weight again, there’s nothing to stop you from continuing to gain. With the lap band, it’s different. It’s adjustable. If you feel like you’re maybe eating a little too much, you just go in and have it adjusted, which I’ve done a couple of times. If it’s too tight and you’re having a hard time eating, you can go in and loosen it up a bit. I would do it again in a minute—it was the best thing I ever did. Dr. Davtyan and his staff are wonderful. I just adore them; they’re so supportive. They would call just to check on me and make sure everything’s good. They’re just amazing. I highly recommend him to anyone considering lap band surgery. I’ve lost 90 pounds with the lap band and have kept it off for nine and a half years.
Bariatric Surgery Before And After – Debra
Debra was able to lose 90 lbs with lap-band surgery and still maintain her love of food. The best thing about the lap-band for her is the ability to adjust the tightness as needed.
